Reflection

May God continue to lead us and protect us as we celebrate the blessing of a new school year. Help us remember that love is always near because You are never far. To "Grow to Serve" we must first grow in LOVE. "The ONLY thing that counts is faith expressing itself through LOVE" - Galatians 5:6

Please submit the form above BEFORE you bring your child's device for enrollment. Be sure to print the confirmation email you will receive and tape to the iPad. Returning students will not need to be re-enrolled if their device was not unenrolled for the summer.

Extended Care Update

Continuing our efforts to provide the safest environment possible for all of our students, we have decided to move the Extended Care Program for our K-8 students to the building and area outside J11 and J12 classrooms. This will allow for the following:

  • An isolated and controlled area for students and Extended Care staff to manage.
  • A dedicated single secured locked entry point from the Back Lot (First Street Entrance).
  • A more manageable supervision area for the Extended Care staff.

The Extended Care Program is offered to all of our SJDL parents who are in need of extending the learning day for their child(ren) due to work commitments or other intermittent commitments that may require their child(ren) to remain at school after 3:15 pm. It is not intended to be a babysitting service or a “playtime” for students. Therefore, please note the following regarding the Extended Care Program:

  • Hours are from 3:15pm - 5:30pm on Regular School Days and 12:15pm - 5:30pm on Noon Dismissal Days.
  • There will be a 15 minute grace period. Charges for Extended Care will begin at 3:30pm on Regular Day schedules and 12:30pm on Noon Dismissal days.
  • The cost is $5 per half-hour. Children picked up after 5:30pm will be charged an additional cost of $1 per minute.
  • Unless otherwise noted on the school calendar, the Extended Care Program will not be provided to parents on holidays and some full day inservice meetings.

Security of our children will continue to be a team effort. We ask that parents follow the guidelines outlined below to help in mitigating potential security risks. All children after school will need to be accounted for and accompanied by a parent, coach, and/or activity coordinator at all times.

We would like parents to note the following regarding our Extended Care Program:

  1. Extended Care will begin at 3:15pm with a grace period of 15 minutes.
  2. Charges for Extended Care will begin at 3:30pm and will accrue every 30 minutes at $5 per half hour, or a portion thereof.
  3. Once children are dismissed from Extended Care they MUST remain with the parent while on campus. There will be NO SUPERVISION on campus after 3:30pm.
  4. Children will NOT be allowed to play in the playground, cement or blacktop areas after 3:15pm.
  5. ALL Extended Care pickups will take place from the Back Lot (First Street Entrance) after 3:15pm. Please be sure to come to the Back Lot after 3:15pm for ALL student pickup.
  6. Extended Care parents will be required to park and pick up their child(ren) from the Extended Care area after 3:15pm. The Front Gate will be locked at 3:15pm.
  7. Early Childhood parents will enter campus through the daycare gate in the back lot and sign their child out at the Preschool/PreKinder gate.

Class Lists

The administration does all it can to prepare class lists, balancing aspects such as gender, personalities, chemistry of children as well as teacher observations and input. Teachers are adept at helping the children feel comfortable and will provide every opportunity for them to make new friends.

Home and School Announcements

Welcome families...old and new!  This year's theme,"Growing to Serve" is very fitting as it relates to the Home and School Association's purpose.

The Saint Jeanne de Lestonnac School Home and School Association (HSA) is the organization of parents who have chosen to participate more fully in the service of Saint Jeanne de Lestonnac School by organizing fundraising activities, and by providing funds that directly benefit the students, faculty, the general plant, and equipment. Examples of what the Association provides funds for include improvements to maintain up-to-date technological programs and infrastructure, physical plant maintenance, security, and teacher benefits. We do so through fundraising activities and events that serve to build upon the SJDL community and spirit.  Equally important, the Association also organizes fundraising activities which provide academic scholarships for students who otherwise would not be able to attend the School.

The Association does not act independently. It is an integral component of the school, which serves as a consultative or advisory organization for fundraising, community building activities, and other projects as requested by the school Administration. The Association does not seek to direct the Administration or to control its policies, procedures, or curriculum.

Grow by Serving Today!

As parents you are all members and you are encouraged to actively participate by attending the HSA monthly meetings, volunteering to assist with the many activities and events throughout the year, and/or contributing by other means such as your talents, services or donations as you feel appropriate.

We are asking that each family take a quick read and submit the HSA Volunteer Form by Friday, September 2.

Mark Your Calendars for HSA sponsored events (or check the school app calendar)!

They will work with you to get what you need. Thank you for not asking the staff to access the Clothes Closet as they do not have the time to leave the office.  *Please note that the September first Monday of the Month lands on Labor Day, so we will announce a new date to accommodate this change due to the holiday.  Again, please contact Amy Nguen or Shelly Adams if you have any questions.

Clothes Closet News

Our back-to-school "fill a bag" sale was a big success!  We were able to clear out a lot of inventory and now have room to accept more donations.  If you have items to donate please bring them to the Front Office.  The Clothes Closet will be open the first Monday of each month; however, the first Monday in September is Labor Day so there is no school.  We are working on scheduling an alternative day and will announce it ASAP!

A few guidelines for "shopping" in the Clothes Closet:

  • A maximum of 4 shoppers are allowed inside the Closet.  We ask that you line up at the door and enter as someone exits.
  • You may help yourself to all hanging items, as well as folded items in the cubbies.  A Clothes Closet coordinator will help you with any items in boxes or bins.
  • Please do not leave clothes on the floor or in the fitting room.

New Dismissal App

We are very excited to announce that we will continue our Pick-up Dismissal protocols, but with a much stronger application. PickMyKid App will allow us to expand on our successful dismissal procedures and provide parents with greater control and consistency. Over the next weeks we will provide all of our parents with detailed information regarding the new capabilities, but for now we hope that you will take a moment to download and register your account.

BE SURE TO USE THE EMAIL ADDRESS AND CELL NUMBER USED IN THE FACTS REGISTRATION PROCESS FOR THE CURRENT SCHOOL YEAR

School Supplies List

We would like to present the beginning of year supply list for our students. We have done all we can to minimize the supplies students will need to start the school year.

Please note the following:

  1. Due to limited classroom storage, it is important that students ONLY bring what is indicated on the respective grade level list.
  2. NO ZUCA style rolling back packs are permitted.
  3. Wired Earphones are required for all K-8th grade students. K-2 earphones need to be labled and will be kept in the classroom.
  4. 3rd-8th grade iPads should have an appropriate cover that can reduce screen damage and impact damage.
  5. Individual subject area teachers will take the responsibility to store items that are indicated (ie: ELA, Art, Science, etc.)

Click for your child(ren)'s respective grade level.
