Grateful for a Successful School Year

Dear God,
Thank You for guiding us through this school year.
For the lessons learned, the friendships made, and the challenges overcome,
We are truly grateful.

Thank You for the teachers who shared their wisdom and care,
For the students who grew in knowledge and kindness,
And for the community that supported us all along the way.

May the seeds planted this year continue to grow,
And may we carry the gifts of this year in our hearts always.

in Jesus' name. Amen.

Building Motivation from the Inside Out

Recognition is the act of noticing and appreciating someone’s effort, behavior, or growth in a timely and personal way. It tends to be more informal and relational—like giving a student a compliment for showing kindness or praising someone for working hard even when they didn’t succeed. Because recognition highlights the value of effort, character, and progress, it nurtures intrinsic motivation. It affirms the idea that doing the right thing or putting in effort is worthwhile in itself, not just because of a prize at the end.

We hope you can join us this coming Friday, June 13, at 8:30 a.m. for our annual End of the Year Recognition Assembly. Also, we invite all of our families and friends to join our End of Year Mass following the Recognition Assembly. Both the front and back parking lots will be open for the day.

Friday, June 13 - Extended Care Not Available.

Thank you for planning ahead and ensuring your child is picked up no later than 12:30 p.m. on Friday, June 13. Our Home and School has graciously provided an end of year lunch for the faculty and staff. Thank you!

Character Formation: A Counterbalance to Today’s Digital Influences

"The greatest legacy one can pass on to one’s children is not money or material things, but a legacy of character and faith."
—Billy Graham

We believe that forming strong character is more essential than ever in today’s fast-paced, digitally driven world. A Character-Centered Discipline Framework invites parents to be active partners in reinforcing core values—respect, responsibility, integrity, sacrifice, self-discipline, and compassion—at home and at school. This shared effort creates consistency that children need to grow in virtue and resilience.

This approach is especially important in countering the increasing influence of social media, online gaming, and artificial intelligence. These technologies, while powerful and often useful, can also expose children to instant gratification, distraction, and distorted ideas about identity, success, and relationships. Social media can promote comparison, entitlement, and impulsivity. Online gaming can lead to escapism and erode patience and attention spans. And AI, while impressive, can make it easier than ever to avoid effort, think critically, or learn through real struggle.

That’s why character education—and the alignment of expectations between home and school—is so critical. By teaching children to delay gratification, own their choices, and develop real human virtues, we prepare them to navigate the digital world with discernment and self-control. Parents who model consistency, set clear boundaries, and remain engaged help children develop the moral compass they need to resist negative influences and embrace what is true, good, and lasting.

Together, we are not only preventing misbehavior—we are forming students who can thrive with integrity in a world that is constantly changing.

We have been granted access to the presentation for those who were unable to attend. We strongly urge all parents to review it and understand that, no matter how "good" or "compliant" their child(ren) may be, the likelihood of encountering the negative effects of digital services, platforms, or applications that allow users to communicate, create, share, or receive rewards/feedback in real-time or asynchronously is extremely high.

If we all take proactive steps to mitigate the harmful impact of interactive online platforms, our children will be healthier—mentally, physically, and most importantly, spiritually.

2025-2026 Interactive Online Platform Policy

To protect the healthy development of students, beginning Wednesday, August 20, 2025, Saint Jeanne de Lestonnac Catholic School will prohibit the use of any interactive online platform that allows communication,  engagement reward or motivation feedback loops for all enrolled students. Children are not equipped to navigate the risks these platforms pose, including addiction, harmful content, and social pressure. Rooted in our Catholic mission, this policy fosters virtue, authentic relationships, and spiritual growth by removing digital distractions that conflict with our values. It is a formative measure intended to support students' dignity, integrity, and overall well-being.

6th Grade in Action!

Our 6th grade students recently demonstrated what it means to live out compassion and service. In partnership with Operation Be Kind, they took action to support those in need by filling over 100 bags with essential items for the unhoused in Orange County. With care and teamwork, they worked together to make a real difference in the lives of others. This effort reflects not only their generous hearts but also the strength of community when we come together for a greater purpose. Thank you, 6th grade, for showing us all the power of kindness in action!
