Thanksgiving Day Prayer

Creator God,

In a spirit of gratitude, we celebrate with family and friends.

We give thanks for those who are good to us.

We give thanks for those who were there to comfort

during trying situations.

And we give thanks for those

who remind us of your presence.

On this Thanksgiving Day, as we give thanks

for the light of your love, help us to be mindful

of those who will need us tomorrow.

Amen.

- Fr. James F. Keenan, SJ

Thanksgiving Break Announcement

Dear Parents,

Saint Jeanne de Lestonnac's Administration, Faculty and Staff wishes all of our SJDL Families and Friends a very Happy Thanksgiving filled with family time, fun and, hopefully, a great deal of relaxation.

Please note that from November 19 through November 27, our faculty and staff will be on collective disconnect. This means that they will be unavailable to respond to emails sent over the Thanksgiving Holiday. Our faculty and staff have done a phenomenal job in the facilitation of student learning with grace, care, and compassion throughout the year and we pray that they can now enjoy some much deserved and needed rest.

Thank you for respecting their time to spend with their family and friends and we hope that you understand that any coorespondence over the Thanksgiving Holiday will be answered upon the school's re-opening on Monday, November 28.

Reflection

"Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God's grace in its various forms." - 1 Peter 4:10

God, thank You for uniquely creating me to serve You. I want to use the gifts You've given me to honor and bless You and You people. I want to be a faithful manager of all the You entrust to me. So, please show me how to use my talents to serve others and glorify Your holy name. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Prayer Request

Please pray for the repose of the soul of Mrs. Tu's dear mother, who entered into her eternal reward Friday evening. May her soul and all the souls of the faithful departed, rest in peace.

Madie started preschool at SJDL in 2012, where she has been thriving ever since and has grown to be a compassionate girl and has made many friendships throughout the years. Her friends Leanna, Gabby, Charlotte, Maddie J, Emily, Blaire and others have been a constant presence in her life, and they inspire each other. Maddie is full of love for others and has a huge heart, she loves and adores her family and friends.

Her kindness reaches beyond just her family and friends, she is kind and respectful to strangers, the elderly and loves and is kind to all God's creatures.

Outside of school, Madie has a passion for dancing, singing and music. She takes guitar and voice lessons weekly, in which she excels in. She also loves the arts and has been in numerous plays with SJDL as well as public theater.

Madie is also well-traveled and has been to many parts of the US and visited Aruba, Hawaii, Costa Rica & more . But her favorite trips are Nashville, Tennessee, and South Carolina, where she has a lot of family. The summers in Tennessee are filled with activities where she gets to spend time with her cousins, aunts, and uncles (Abby, Annie, Millie, Aunt Ceci, and her Uncle Jim); they enjoy playing, swimming in the lake, and taking out Uncle Jim's boat, where they get to spend the whole day on the water. The DeAnda’s also go yearly to Lancaster, South Carolina, to visit her Aunt Monica and Uncle Steve and Maddie enjoys taking in the scenery, exploring the quaint towns, and experiencing local culture.

In her free time Maddie devotes her time to NCL (National Charity League) and volunteers and assists with the babies at Casa Teresa. Maddie lives with her brother Jake (who also goes to SJDL), her father Juan DeAnda (CFO at WATG), mom Rebecca DeAnda (Real Estate agent) and her two dogs, Benny, and Barkley.
