SJDL Weekly News

Week of September 1 - September 5

Heavenly Father,
This Labor Day, we give You thanks for the gift of work and the dignity it brings to our lives. We remember that through our labor, we share in Your ongoing work of creation and service to others.

May our work always be guided by love, justice, and service, reflecting the example of Saint Joseph, the carpenter, and the humble labor of Your Son, Jesus.

Help us to use our talents not for selfish gain, but to build up our families, our communities, and Your Kingdom on earth.

We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen.

Message of Thanksgiving and Prayer

We give thanks to God for guiding the hands of the doctors and for the success of Sister Mary’s surgery. We are grateful for His healing presence and the gift of renewed hope. Please join us in continued prayer for Sister Mary’s complete and speedy recovery, that she may soon return to health and to the joyful service of our community.

We only have 2 reviews. Best way to honor the school is to support us with a great review!

Reminder About Campus Gate Procedures

Dear Parents,

As we continue to ensure a safe and orderly dismissal for all students, we want to remind you of our campus entry gate procedures. The campus gates close promptly from 3:00 pm to 3:15 pm (15 minutes) Monday through Thursday and from 1:45 pm to 2:00 pm (15 minutes) on Friday. This policy is in place to limit traffic and protect our students while they are being escorted to our Extended Care facility. Once the children are in the Extended Care facility, or have arrived at the after-school athletic venue or math club, campus access will be through the Extended Care facility gate (after 3:15 pm Monday–Thursday and after 2:00 pm on Friday).

Please understand that the teachers stationed at the gates are there for supervision, security, and safety—not to discuss or explain dismissal policies. If you have any questions or concerns regarding these procedures, we kindly ask that you direct them to the school office rather than to teachers during dismissal. This helps ensure that staff can remain focused on keeping all children safe and that dismissal runs smoothly.

We encourage all parents to arrive before 3:00 pm (Mon–Thu) and 1:45 pm (Fri) if you do not want to wait for the campus to re-open after 3:15 pm (Mon–Thu) or 2:00 pm (Fri).

We appreciate your cooperation, patience, and support as we work together to keep our community safe.

Thank You, Student Council!

We extend our heartfelt thanks to the 2025–2026 Student Council members for preparing and leading such a timely and joy-filled Beginning of Year Mass. Your thoughtful participation helped set the tone for our school year, reminding us of the importance of faith, unity, and community. We are grateful for the spirit and energy you brought to our celebration, and we look forward to the many ways you will continue to serve and inspire our school throughout the year.

Thank You Message

On behalf of Saint Jeanne de Lestonnac Catholic School, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Tustin Police Department and the City of Tustin for their steadfast support and reassurance. Your presence, commitment, and partnership provide us with the confidence and peace of mind to focus on our mission of forming students in faith, knowledge, and character.

We are deeply thankful to be part of a community where the safety and well-being of our children are a shared priority. Your service strengthens not only our school but the entire Tustin community, and for that, we are truly grateful.

The annual Tustin Tiller Days Festival and Parade has honored our community and rich agricultural heritage since 1957. This year’s event will mark the 68th anniversary and will take place on October 3 – October 5, 2025, at the Columbus Tustin Park on Irvine Boulevard and Prospect Avenue. Tustin Tiller Days feature carnival rides, food, commercial vendor booths, pancake breakfast, a parade and two stages with live entertainment, a sports zone, a beer and wine garden, and a Backyard Brewfest. Lastly, we have multiple contests throughout the weekend, including our famous Wiener Dog Races!

The Tustin Tiller Days Committee and the Tustin Parks and Recreation Department invites the Saint Jeanne de Lestonnac Catholic School community to participate in our pre-sale carnival wristband fundraiser. Families may purchase pre-sale unlimited rides carnival wristbands beginning September 2 through October 2 for $40, a savings of $5 off the regular pre-sale price. Tickets may be purchased at the Parks and Recreation Department, 300 Centennial Way, Tustin, at City Hall.

In addition, for each wristband sold during this pre-sale period, $2 will be donated to Saint Jeanne de Lestonnac Catholic School.

Building Character in Children Through Catholic Values

At Saint Jeanne de Lestonnac Catholic School, we help students grow in a vibrant relationship with Jesus Christ, pursue excellence in learning, and live a life of service according to the Gospels. A key part of this mission is forming strong Christian character—teaching virtues like self-control, kindness, courage, service and wisdom.

In today’s world, online gaming, social media, and AI can easily pull young people toward doubt, distraction, comparison, and instant gratification. By grounding students in their identity as beloved children of God, we give them the tools to make wise choices, use technology responsibly, and keep Christ at the center of their lives.

Through prayer, service, and daily practice of virtue, our students learn to balance the digital world with what truly matters—living faithfully, loving others, and using their gifts to make a positive difference. Read more Building Character, Shaping Futures: Our TEAM Approach
